Marita Cheng’s quote “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together” really sums up the working culture of the administration team at South Wangaratta Medical Centre.
The South Wangaratta administration team consists of women from many backgrounds who have come from a range of other professions. The administration team is the backbone of the medical centre.
“Our team is generally the first and last point of contact with patients who come through the centre and we work hard to provide a patient centred experience,” practice manager and clinical pharmacist, Teresa McMahon said.
“Our administration staff work closely as a team and with the doctors, nurses and other health professionals who consult from South Wangaratta Medical Centre.”
“Working as a team and the enjoyment we get from working with each other to meet the needs of patients to provide optimal health outcomes is what inspires us,” Ms McMahon said.
“We embrace the differences and life experiences which we all bring to the team.”
These different life experiences and backgrounds enable them to really understand the needs of people who interact with South Wangaratta Medical Centre.
“If we had to provide advice to women who were looking to embark in a similar career path, it would be to never underestimate the value you can bring to other people’s lives – it’s not what you know that matters, it is who you are,” Ms McMahon said.
